Rome Week: Colosseum

Hi my loves! I'm back from a badly needed vacation and hope you didn't miss me too much :) I had a great time and have tons to share with you this week.
I've had a picture of the Colosseum on my visualization board for about 2 years now. So when my husband and I thought about where we should go for out trip this year, we chose Italy. There's nothing more moving and satisfying than seeing something you've dreamt about come to reality.
I'm crazy about architecture, history, and art in all its forms (fashion, painting, beat-boxing, dance, drama, cooking, baking, tattooing, you name it). I believe that you don't have to understand a person's art to know it's beautiful. It's unspoken...you feel deep inside. There's something about taking in and acknowledging the talent, creativity, and passion of someone else. There are so many wonderful people that turn nothingness into something everyday.
Today I'm sharing pictures of the magnificent Colosseum taken during our 3 hour walking tour that included: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona. After 3 hours of walking, we were inspired and exhausted.
I hope you enjoy my family's week in Rome :)

Wedding Color Wednesday: Hot Pink

Hot Pink! That's our color for today's Wedding Color Wednesday. It's vibrant and lively. It's very popular for weddings and I can totally see why. If you're thinking of using it as a primary color, you must pair it with a light color: white, cream, and light pinks. It's not a color that can share the spotlight with another bold color. However, when used as an accent color, it works well with other bold colors.

Check out how hot pink was used in these wonderful inspirations:

Board # 7: Lace

Hi there! I hope you're having an awesome Tuesday filled with love, kindness, and forgiveness. That's all we ever need really :)

Well, today's board is inspired by the Lace Crown. When I decided to add this piece to the collection, I was creating this piece for a super confident bride that's sure of who she is and what she wants in life.

If you love lace, you'll be crushing on this board today. As always my dears, may you forever be inspired.

Naked Cakes...Ooh la la!

I have a confession to make. I'm a scrapper. I scrape off icing from a piece of cake, glaze from doughnuts, and frosting on cupcakes. I've been this way ever-since I was a little kid. Icing, frosting, and glaze are too sweet for me:( I love looking at icing and frosting on cakes, but I can't handle the sweetness. The best I can do is whipped cream.
I don't feel as guilty as I used to about not enjoying icing and frosting like others do. When I first saw the naked cake trend, I was delighted. It confirmed to me that I was not alone. There are probably many people out there that are just like me. Scrappers just like me!!! Why else would this trend take off? Anyway, I love the naked cake idea not just because I'm a scrapper. It's such an innovative idea for a wedding cake.
If you're thinking of this trend for your own wedding, I say go for it! I would like to believe it would be an affordable option since there's not much decorating and icing detail work for your cake-maker to do. The key to pulling off a magnificent naked cake are the decorations that end up on the cake. Most naked cakes are decorated with flowers, fruits, and unique cake toppers. In some instances, the filling acts as decoration too!

Naked never looked so good:

Photo-shoot theme suggestion/s for this outfit
I can totally see this outfit working really well for a food market or a flea-market themed engagement session. It's laid back enough to work well in a day-to-day setting and dressy enough to be stunning in the images. Check out the following Whole Foods market shoot captured by the ridiculously talented Erika. How adorable is this couple?

Pretty Plates

I remember a time when I thought a floral pattern was dated and stuffy. Just looking at a floral print cushion would give me a headache. Fast forward to the last few years in my life, I've come to LOVE floral patterns. There's something so feminine and pretty about them :)

I come across a lot of  things every now and then that I want to share with you all. Sometimes I remember to share them, and sometimes I'm so swarmed I forget to. Today I want to share with you a very common trend that makes me happy; pretty floral pattern plates. Aren't they magnificent!?
