Wedding Invites

Every year I find myself mesmerized by how old traditions find new life in the minds of creatives. The wedding industry is filled with customs and traditions that have lasted throughout time.

The core elements: dress, cake, veil, flowers, and stationery, are always reinvented with each new wedding season. It's remarkable!

Take a look at these invites/stationery. I am in awe at all the prettiness!

Wedding Cake - It's Personal

Wedding cakes have become more personal. We are seeing more creative custom designs and flavors. It's so exciting. Not only is it the shape or the idea of the cake that's changing, it's the flavor of the cake as well. Gone are the brandy heavy fruit cakes of the past. You've got all kinds of flavors now!

To be honest, I love how almost everything, actually EVERYTHING in, or about your wedding can be customized to suit your tastes and personality.

Check out these non-traditional wedding cakes I found:

Wedding Flower Budget

If there's one item on your wedding budget your fiance probably cannot understand or belittles, it's your flower budget. He probably doesn't understand why you have to pay so much for something that will "just die".

Well, sadly, a lot of people, other than a fellow bride-to-be, and your wedding vendors will understand the importance of having flowers at your wedding. That's okay, you're not crazy.

If your favorite flower is too expensive, consider just using your favorite flower in your bouquet, and on your table only. Choose a more affordable and complementary flower for the rest of the decor and bridesmaids. A good florist will be happy to come up with alternative options.

I could stare at flowers and pictures of flowers all day. I LOVE flowers [insert girliest shriek here].

Check out these gorgeous free flowing and loosely structured bouquets. Aren't they lovely?

Trims

I get into a trance when I'm sewing. I feel good, I'm calm, and I'm happy. I really do love sewing. Veils are my favorite to make because I get to use a needle and thread. The lace trims take the longest. Well, actually no, the tiny flowers I did for the Petals and Pearls veil has to be the most tiring embellishment work I have done to date.

Wire work, like the bridal vines and combs are fun too but holding a needle and thread is where my heart is.

Wedding Sparrow Feature

It's always nice when I partner with other wedding vendors for a workshop or a creative shoot. Great magic happens :)
I had the pleasure of seeing Holeigh Abercrombie's pictures from the Boheme Workshop published on the Wedding Sparrow blog.

Holeigh's images are stunning. I really like her style and I know she and I will work together soon. To see the whole feature, click on this link: Wedding Sparrow Feature.

Holeigh is super talented and I love these images she captured:

Soft Whites

Soft whites are timeless and classic. Choosing a color palette for your wedding can be a daunting task. If you're afraid of committing to a color or too much color, go with soft whites and creams. You can never go wrong.

Vendor Love: The First Snow

Happy Monday my loves. Today I want to talk about a vendor whose work I absolutely love. She's called Darah and she is the owner/designer behind The First Snow. She hand-makes wedding stationery from: cake toppers, invites, thank you cards, table numbers, welcome signs, and a whole lot more. She even has everyday home or office decor posters / signs.

I first came across Darah's work on Pinterest (thank God for Pinterest) and I immediately fell in love with her work. The artwork I first spotted on Pinterest and had to have was her Here Comes The Bride sign (pic of it below) and contacted her right away. I needed the sign for my 2013 collection shoot and I bought if from her Etsy shop. She was kind enough to ship it to me with enough time to spare as I had contacted her with a rush order request. The sign is hanging in my office right now. She's super sweet and absolutely talented. You must check out her work and like her Facebook page.

So my darlings, this is the work of Darah from The First Snow. All the images are sourced from Darah's Etsy shop.
