The Long and Short of It

I remember when I was planning my wedding in 2009. I wasn't sure of what length dresses to choose for my bridesmaids. It's such a tough decision because you have to think about:
  •  time of year - summer, spring, fall, or winter
  •  the comfort levels of your bridesmaids
  •  the price of the dresses
  •  the location of your wedding
  •  your wedding theme
Frankly, it's a little overwhelming. I guess that's why some brides just choose a color and let their bridesmaids choose their own dress. It makes so much sense. However, some brides like uniformity. There is no wrong or right way to throw your wedding. It is always and will always be about you and your groom.

Choosing your bridesmaids dresses should become easier if you come up with the three core decisions about the dresses:
  1. long or short, or both
  2. the theme (garden wedding, beach wedding, black-tie affair, etc)
  3. the color
Once you have those decisions in place, it becomes easier to search for dresses within your criteria.

Too stunning for bridesmaids? No!

I love the trend of allowing bridesmaids to wear different style dresses or different color dresses. Not only does it look amazing when done right, it also allows for bridesmaids to get dresses they are comfortable in and allows them to reuse the dresses after the wedding.
Every now and then, I daydream about the bridesmaids dresses a billionaire bride would pick for her bridesmaids. And every time, I envision her bridesmaids wearing Elie Saab's couture creations as bridesmaids dresses...yes, I really do :)

Hot Bridesmaids

Today's bridesmaids are hot! Gone are the days when brides fretted about being out-shined by their bridesmaids. Brides are opting for non-traditional bridesmaids dresses. Dresses are now in trendy colors and in the latest styles. Some brides allow their bridesmaids to pick the style they want to wear as long as it's in the wedding color. Other brides go as far as to allow the bridesmaids to pick their own dresses and shoes; both style and color! Bridesmaids are embracing these new freedoms by going for chic dresses and sexy shoes.

When the bridesmaids look good, the bride looks good :)
